significance of bile salts hydrolase activity of bacteria from Lactobacillus
genus
Abstract:
Lactobacilli
are detected in large number in human and animal living
environment and gastrointestinal
tracts. Although bile salts hydrolysis in intestinal tract is
known, the significance of this activity is not still
well understood. This review describes current knowledge on bile
salts hydrolase detected in
bacteria from Lactobacillus genus, on genotypic factors
influencing on its activity and
on the impact of this activity on bile and cholesterol
metabolisms in host gut.
